Exploring the Possibilities of Prosthetic Technology: Replacing Lost Limbs and Restoring Quality of Life

Prosthetic technology is advancing quickly, with new and improved prostetic arms designs giving amputees more freedom and mobility than ever before. The history of prosthetics goes back to ancient times. The earliest known prostheses were created in Egypt around 2000 BC. The prostetic arms were made from wood and leather, and were designed to replace lost limbs for those who could not afford expensive treatments or surgeries. By the Middle Ages, the Chinese had developed a rudimentary artificial arm made of iron, while the Greeks crafted a hand out of bronze that had grasping abilities. Modern prosthetic technology began in 1790 when French surgeon Jean-Antoine Venel invented an articulated leg that used cables to move its joints.
